Intelligence | Philippine Airlines Launches New Destinations | | |  | EXPANSION PLAN: Philippine Airlines to debut six new routes this year. © Chisiang | Philippine Airlines announced a major route expansion plan, including six new destinations out of Manila (MNL) across Asia Pacific and the Middle East. The Philippines' flag carrier will launch new routes to Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Malaysia; Guangzhou (CAN), China; and Abu Dhabi (AUH), United Arab Emirates. PAL will also offer new services to three cities in Australia, including Brisbane (BNE), Darwin (DRW) and Perth (PER). "Kuala Lumpur, Australia, and Guangzhou are major destinations for business and leisure. Abu Dhabi, on the other hand, has a large concentration of overseas Filipino workers, making it a prime destination in the Middle East," said PAL's president, Ramon S. Ang. The airline's expansion begins May 1 with the launch of four weekly flights to Kuala Lumpur. Flights depart Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 07:55. The expansion continues in June with the debut of three additional routes. Four weekly flights to Guangzhou will depart Manila every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday at 10:30. Three weekly flights to Brisbane, via Darwin, will depart at 22:05 every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Services to Perth, also flying via Darwin, will leave every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 22:25. PAL will return to the Middle East for the first time since 2010 with the launch of direct daily flights to Abu Dhabi Oct. 1. Services depart Manila at 16:25.
