| Where's Johnny Jet? Greetings! Can you believe I was on "The Today Show" not once, but twice this week? I don’t think too many people can say that, and I never thought I would be one of them. My first segment aired last Thursday during Kathie Lee & Hoda’s hour, and was about last minute Valentine’s Day and President’s Day weekend deals ( here’s the video). The second spot was on hidden hotel fees, and it ran on Saturday for their weekend edition ( video). We taped the latter in Las Vegas at Caesar’s Palace, which is a beautiful hotel, but they have one of those evil electric mini bars that charge you just for picking an item up. But the most shocking fee was when I checked out and got hit with… get this…an $11.20 processing fee because the person who booked the reservation (NBC’s travel agent) didn’t book using Caesar’s website. I argued that it should've been billed to their credit card or disclosed when I checked in. The agent agreed and waived the fee. That’s why it’s extremely important to go through your bill before you checkout of any hotel. Once you walk out their doors it’s difficult to get the charges reversed. Last week, I flew at a moment’s notice to go see my dad in Florida. Since one-way tickets were crazy expensive I turned to my miles and wrote a post about it. Since my dad was doing much better a few days later I flew back to California to spend a belated Valentine’s Day with my beautiful wife at the Montage Laguna Beach. We had an incredibly luxurious experience, and here are my 10 reasons to stay there. FYI: If you are in L.A. this weekend I will be speaking at the Los Angeles Times Travel Show, so please come by and say hi. (FYI: It’s cheaper and faster if you get your tickets in advance online). | | |

FlightCar.com is a brilliant rental car concept that just launched Friday at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Travelers need to know about this site since it could save them a ton of money. | Emma de Vadder has ten years of travel, tourism, and PR experience, including having worked at PR companies specializing in travel and hospitality both in London and New York City. | | When you lock your hotel door, you assume both you and your belongings are safe, but thieves have developed a simple device that can unlock hotel doors in potentially millions of rooms. | These travel pillows definitely aren’t the cheapest, but they might very well be the most comfortable. The pillows are handmade by Garry Logue and his wife in Ottawa, Canada. | | Next Flight provides you with a list of available flights (from all airline carriers) for the current day and the two following days. You can drill down to the flight details which provide additional information. | | | |
