Hola from Los Angeles! I had a fantastic week in southern California and one of the highlights is pictured above -- attending the L.A. Times Travel Show speakers' dinner at Roy’s, which included some travel heavyweights like Rick Steves, Andrew McCarthy, Don George, Josh Gates, Catherine Hamm, Marybeth Bond, Jen Leo, Julia Dimon and of course, my wife. Speaking of Natalie, she just launched a new blog called Oh Travelissima and I snapped a nice photo of her walking down the red carpet of The GREAT British Film Reception celebrating the British Oscar nominees (photo). Afterwards, we had a fancy dinner at The Ivy with team Scottevest (photo) and hit the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM (photo) for dessert. If that wasn’t enough fun, we spent two glorious nights at The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles, which is super-convenient when doing business or attending events downtown (photos).

This week, I wrote a post about my experience at Fort Lauderdale’s Airport security check and I titled it: Why I Opt Out of TSA's Backscatter X-ray Machines and You Should Too. I think it’s important that people not go through these machines and know that they can exercise their right to opt out.

P.S. Everyone knows that there isn't just one website out there that has the absolute cheapest price for airfares, hotels, car rentals, cruises and package deals so the trick is to do your research and check them all to see who has the best deal at that moment in time. With our new search engine, all you have to do is input your city pairs and dates and click 'check rates'. Six windows will open up as they simultaneously search a variety of travel websites like Kayak, Priceline and TripAdvisor. It not only saves you time but money. Check it out for yourself!
